The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that cloudy weather with rain, wind, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms is likely to occur in several parts of Sindh, including Karachi, on Thursday evening and night, as well as on Friday and Saturday.
This weather is due to a strong westerly wave currently over the western parts of Pakistan, which is expected to affect most parts of the country through Sunday, March 3.
Specifically, places like Dadu, Noushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mohenjo-Dharo, Jacobabad, and Kashmore are set to experience partly cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms starting Thursday evening and night.
The forecast for Friday and Saturday includes similar conditions for Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, along with other mentioned areas. There’s also a possibility of isolated heavy rainfalls and hailstorms. Such weather could potentially lead to urban flooding and cause damage to structures that are not securely fastened, such as electric poles and solar panels.
Temperature-wise, Karachi is expected to have lows of 16-18 degrees Celsius on Friday and 15-17 degrees Celsius on Saturday. In Hyderabad, the minimum temperatures will likely range from 15-17 degrees Celsius on Friday and 14-16 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
The last 24 hours have seen mostly dry weather in the Sindh districts, with Mithi and Mohenjo-Dharo recording the lowest temperatures at 11 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels in the morning were 60% in Mithi and 83% in Mohenjo-Dharo. Karachi observed a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius with 55% humidity, while Hyderabad had a minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and 62% humidity in the morning.
