PTA Moves to Adopt WiFi 6E and Plan for WiFi 7

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has recognized that current Wi-Fi frequencies are often too busy, which can reduce the quality of internet services.

To address this issue, PTA is considering making more space on the 6 GHz band available. This change would make way for the new, faster Wi-Fi 6E and the future Wi-Fi 7 technologies.

Wi-Fi 6E uses the 6 GHz band to provide more room for data to move, which is perfect for things like streaming movies or using cloud services without interruptions. The PTA understands that high-quality Wi-Fi is very important and is looking to make decisions that will support the most modern Wi-Fi technologies in Pakistan.

The goal is to have Wi-Fi that doesn’t interfere with itself, is very fast, and can handle many devices at once. The PTA is keeping an eye on when Wi-Fi 6E devices like routers and laptops become available. They have also run tests to make sure that the new Wi-Fi won’t disturb other things that use the 6 GHz band.

Looking ahead, PTA is also thinking about the next big step in Wi-Fi technology, known as Wi-Fi 7. This would offer even faster speeds and be able to support even more devices. It’s all part of a plan to make sure Pakistan stays up-to-date with the latest wireless tech. This way, people and businesses in Pakistan can use new internet technologies as they become available.
