Pakistan and Iran Engage in Talks to Address Recent Tensions

Foreign ministers of Pakistan and Iran met to discuss their countries’ cooperation following recent tensions. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived in Pakistan early on Monday, meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Jalil Abbas Jilani.

This meeting happened shortly after a series of tense incidents. An Iranian airstrike in Pakistan led to Islamabad targeting terrorist camps across the border in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province. Despite these events, both nations are now looking to calm the situation.

However, the killing of nine Pakistani workers in Iran by unknown assailants added to the tension. Pakistan has called for a thorough investigation and prompt action against those responsible.

The Foreign Office of Pakistan stated the ministers emphasized the need for strong dialogue and cooperation to improve relations. They agreed to work together for peace and the well-being of their people, with mutual respect and joint efforts to overcome shared challenges.

Upon his arrival, Abdollahian was greeted by Rahim Hayat, a senior Pakistani foreign official. The visit includes comprehensive talks with Jilani and a meeting with Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Later, pictures were shared of Abdollahian’s reception at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
