Misbah-ul-Haq Questions Timing of League and NOCs Before World Cup

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah-ul-Haq has expressed concerns over allowing players to participate in various leagues before the World Cup.

Speaking in Karachi while coaching the Hyderabad Bahadurs in the Sindh Premier League, Misbah emphasized that No Objection Certificates (NOCs), which permit players to play in other leagues, should be granted based on the current needs rather than a fixed policy.

Misbah voiced his opinion against indiscriminate policies and warned that making changes at the top without considering lower levels can lead to a lack of consistency.

He pointed out that it is unfair to remove players from the team based on a single series’ performance. The former captain highlighted that such unpredictable conditions discourage not only local but even foreign coaches from taking up roles in such an environment.

Adding to his views on Pakistan’s cricket scenario, Misbah stated confidence in the country’s ability to excel in T20 cricket. He believes that with the right team combination, Pakistan can perform well in the West Indies during the T20 World Cup.

Currently, Pakistani players are engaged in the International League T20 (ILT20) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing various teams.

After these engagements, the players will participate in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This will be followed by a series of T20 International matches, including a significant four-match series against England right before the T20 World Cup 2024.
