Maulana Fazl Raises Alarm Over Election Security in KP and Balochistan

In a series of political rallies, Maulana Fazulur Rehman, the chief of the JUI-F party, voiced serious concerns regarding the safety of candidates running for office in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan regions.

He indicated that fear of attacks is causing hesitation among those considering to contest in elections.

During the weekend, Maulana Fazl campaigned in Sindh’s Larkana and Kandhkot districts, supporting the joint candidates of JUI-F and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).

At an event in Larkana’s Jamia Islamia seminary, he pointed out that candidates from Balochistan and KP are facing weekly attacks, calling for transparency and public awareness of the issue.

Despite security concerns, Maulana Fazl encouraged the public to partake in the voting process and “cast their vote wisely” to ensure their rightful representation in the government.

Addressing the issue of inflation, he empathized with the struggles of low-income individuals and families in affording basic needs and questioned when the nation would overcome such hardships.

Maulana Fazl highlighted the teachings of Islam on human rights and economic prosperity, expressing dissatisfaction with Pakistan’s lack of significant progress in various fields over the past 75 years and the country’s current downward trend.

Prominent leaders who attended the rallies included GDA’s Dr. Safdar Abbasi, JUI-F’s Rashid Mehmood Soomro and Maulana Tahir Mehmood Soomro, alongside other political figures. Criticism was directed at the PPP’s 15-year governance in Sindh, accusing the party of misleading voters with false promises.

At a preceding rally in Kandhkot, Maulana Fazl conveyed that the strong turnout was indicative of JUI-F and its allies’ potential electoral success.

He accused PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, of misappropriating party funds without being held accountable. Maulana Fazl also accentuated the disparity in justice for the rich and poor and mentioned the lack of initiative by lawmakers to implement Islamic legislation as directed by the constitution, despite the presence of religious scholars in the assembly.

Urging his party workers to mobilize voters, he spoke of the importance of democratic participation to safeguard lives and property.

Maulana Fazl touched upon the situation in Afghanistan, stating the US defeat and current stability, while cautioning against attempts to weaken Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan. He concluded by mentioning his recent visit to Kabul and his interactions with the Afghan Taliban leadership, highlighting JUI-F’s role in fostering unity.
