Ali Amin Gandapur Elected as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s New Chief Minister

In a recent session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, Ali Amin Gandapur, an independent lawmaker supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, was elected as the province’s chief minister.

Gandapur received overwhelming support, securing 90 votes, while the candidate from PML-N, Ibadullah Khan, received only 16 votes. With this victory, Gandapur has become the 22nd elected leader to hold the chief minister position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In his post-election address, Gandapur called for the immediate release of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and expressed his gratitude to the PTI’s founder for entrusting him with the leadership role in KP.

He spoke critically of the chief election commissioner (CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja, accusing him of failing to oversee transparent elections in Pakistan. Gandapur insisted that the CEC resign due to this failure to conduct free and fair elections.

The new chief minister also reached out to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, requesting a judicial inquiry into the events that unfolded on May 9th.
