Lahore High Court’s Justice Ali Baqar Najafi has rejected 18 separate legal petitions that contested the declared results of various constituencies in the recent general elections. The basis for these challenges was centered on issues related to Form 47s.
Among the petitions dismissed were those filed against prominent leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), including Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shehbaz, and Khawaja Asif, as well as Attaullah Tarar of the PML-N and Awn Chaudhry of the IPP.
Justice Najafi directed the individuals who had submitted the petitions to take their grievances to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) if they sought further action on their claims. This move by the Lahore High Court underscores the procedural route that contesting parties must follow in challenging election results through the appropriate legal channels.
