Nawaz Sharif Reflects on His Time in Office in 2017

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, expressed concern over the current state of the nation, recalling a more prosperous time in 2017 when he was in office.

At a public gathering in Sialkot, he voiced that the present difficulties of unemployment, poverty, and high inflation were a stark contrast to the progress made during his term.

Sharif criticized the leaders who followed him, blaming them for the downturn and the lack of opportunities for the youth.

He claimed that his removal from government was the reason why many are jobless today, insisting that his party’s projects would have continued to provide employment had they not been halted.

He highlighted the impact of inflation on everyday life, pointing out that people struggle with basic expenses such as electricity bills, school fees, and medical care. Sharif mentioned the high costs of essentials like bread, sugar, and petrol, adding that these prices were making life difficult for the average person.

Pledging to revive opportunities for the youth, he promised that if the PML-N were elected in the upcoming February 8 general elections, his party would offer loans to educated and skilled individuals to start their own ventures.

He also promised to restart programs like distributing laptops to students for advancing their education and career prospects.

Sharif asked the people to join him in working hard to bring Pakistan out of its current challenges and reassured local businessmen in Sialkot that they would receive full support to grow their businesses.

On the same occasion, Shehbaz Sharif, the President of PML-N, defended Nawaz Sharif’s public engagement and critiqued PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for his political tactics.

Shehbaz stressed that their party was removed unjustly and replaced with what he termed a “puppet” government. He reminisced about the achievements of the Nawaz-administration, including the completion of major development projects and the proud moment of conducting nuclear tests in response to India’s similar actions, despite a substantial monetary offer from the US to refrain.

Both leaders made it clear that they believe in the PML-N’s victory in the elections and its ability to carry Pakistan’s development forward.
